The theme of this year’s rotation model Sunday School is the story of Joseph. Many of us know the surface story of Joseph. That story is the story of a young man loved by his father, disliked by his brothers who sold him into slavery, but who escaped slavery and rose to become the de-facto ruler of the nation.

That is the surface story but there is more. The story of Joseph teaches us about family relationships. It teaches us about resisting temptation. It teaches us about being faithful when the times are tough. And it teaches us that God has a plan for each of us and in spite of what others may do, God will execute his plan on our behalf.

The 2008 -2009 Christian Education season will begin on September 7, 2008 with Rally Day at time of programs, surprises and special events. Plan on attending.

For the adults, the Adult Sunday School class which meets in the parlor will be studying the parables of Jesus. The Parables will include Mark 4:1-20, Mark 12:1-12, Matthew 18:21-35, Matthew 20:1-16, Matthew 22:1-14, Luke 14:1-24, Matthew 25:1-13,Luke 10:25-37,Luke 12:13-21,Luke 15:1-32, and Luke 18:1-18. We will study one parable a week over several weeks.

The prayer group continues to meet. Our next meeting will be on September 6, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. at Chello’s on 5^th Street.

These are all wonderful opportunities to deepen and enrich our spiritual lives. I invite and encourage you to take advantage of them.
